Now that the Super Bowl betting is over, sports fans are starting to turn their attention to the NBA. The condensed season brought on by the lockout is affecting teams. The Cleveland Cavaliers are clinging to some very slim playoff hopes and need to run off some consecutive wins in order to climb into the top eight of the Eastern Conference. NBA fans all over the league are pretty surprised at the 76ers’ 17-7 record to start the season, but that is a product of the condensed schedule. The 76ers have some young players that have talent and can handle the rigors of the 2012 scheduling. The Cavaliers have some interesting young players, but it will be difficult for Cleveland to stay with Philadelphia in this game.

Sunday – Houston Rockets @ Golden State Warriors

Games like this one against Golden State are the kinds of opportunities that the Houston Rockets need to take advantage of. Golden State has a losing record at home and has been unable to put up any kind of points in clutch situations. The Rockets have been showing some promise in recent games and have been especially aggressive about getting to the rim from the outside. In a physical game, the Rockets should be the better team.

Sunday – Utah Jazz @ Memphis Grizzlies

The Utah Jazz is not exactly the kind of team that Memphis wants to play to try and move up in the standings. But the Jazz have a horrible road record and this game could be a  great opportunity for the Grizzlies.

Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens barely beat the Cleveland Browns in week 16, and much of the problems for
the Ravens can from the Cleveland running game. Cleveland backup quarterback Seneca
Wallace is an extremely mobile quarterback that gave the Ravens all kinds of problems
in that game. Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton is not quite that mobile, but he has a

of the Bengals. Cincinnati has the sixth-best defense in the league and has become very
good at shutting down the opposing team’s passing game. But the Cincinnati defense has
become even better at closing down the running game. The running game is what keeps
the Baltimore Ravens in most of its games.

The Bottom Line
The Bengals need this game a lot more than the Ravens do, and that can be an added

level of motivation. The only question is whether it will be enough to push the Bengals
past a very determined Baltimore team.
